I’m fed up with people tal­king about Apo­ca­lypse in 2012 whilst it had always been end of a cycle and start of a new one.
David Mor­ri­son, Senior Scien­tist at NASA, said it in a very amu­sing and effec­tive way:

I note that my desk calen­dar ends much soo­ner, on Decem­ber 31 2009, but I do not inter­pret this as a pre­dic­tion of Arma­ged­don. It is just the begin­ning of a new year.
